Ram Returns to NASCAR with Craftsman Truck Series Campaign

Ram Trucks is returning to NASCAR competition after a 13-year absence, scheduling its first campaign in the Craftsman Truck Series starting in 2026. The move comes as part of a broader strategy to re-establish itself as a major player in the automotive industry.

The announcement was made during a marketing splash at Michigan International Speedway, where Ram CEO Tim Kuniskis drove a concept race truck wearing a distinctive livery. Kuniskis hinted that Ram’s NASCAR comeback may signal its intent to return to Cup Series competition with another manufacturer under the Stellantis banner.

Ram will become the first new OEM in NASCAR’s national-series ranks since Toyota brought its Tundra model to the track in 2004. John Probst, NASCAR executive vice president and chief racing development officer, praised Ram’s enthusiasm for competing in the sport, saying that the company is “aggressive” in seeking a team partnership to launch its Cup Series venture.

While no details have been disclosed on potential partnerships or rival manufacturers, Probst expressed optimism about the prospects of other OEMs entering the sport. He noted that an OEM’s decision to join NASCAR requires significant investment and approval at the highest levels, but Ram is confident in its position as a “pretty good investment.”
