The Los Angeles Rams’ offseason moves have shifted attention to their wide receiver situation, with quarterback Matthew Stafford’s stability a given. However, the team’s plans for Cooper Kupp are taking shape. In February, Kupp revealed that the Rams intend to trade him this offseason, which may not come as a surprise.
Kupp is approaching his 32nd birthday and has dealt with consecutive injury-plagued seasons. His contract also poses concerns, including cap hits of $29.7 million in 2025 and $27.3 million in 2026. The Pittsburgh Steelers are seen as a possible destination for Kupp.
A trade would address the Steelers’ need for additional wide receiver help, particularly after their slot receiver Roman Wilson failed to contribute in his rookie season. Kupp’s ability to play on the outside would alleviate any potential logjam.
Before making a deal, the Steelers may need to restructure Kupp’s contract or receive some of his guaranteed money from the Rams. If this is achievable and the trade price is reasonable, given Kupp’s age and injury history, it could be a wise move for the Steelers.
A Kupp trade would instantly upgrade their offense and provide the team with a potent receiving corps. With Pittsburgh taking on more responsibility in their new home, the potential benefits are substantial for both parties involved.
