Los Angeles Rams General Manager Les Snead confirmed on Wednesday that the team is actively seeking to trade All-Pro wide receiver Cooper Kupp “immediately.” Despite not having a new deal with another team, Snead emphasized that time has done little to change Kupp’s eventual fate.
Snead stated there is a scenario in which Kupp might return, but it would be the least likely. He expressed his desire to avoid speculation and instead focused on finding a partner for Kupp, both for the player’s future and the team’s.
Kupp had an incredible 2021 season, winning the receiving triple crown with 145 catches, 1,947 yards, and 16 touchdowns. However, over the past three seasons, he has struggled with injuries, missing 17 games due to injury. The Rams ultimately decided to hold on to Kupp near the 2024 trade deadline, which paid off as they turned a 1-4 start into a postseason trip.
Snead credited Kupp’s age (he will be 32 soon) and declining performance in his final seven games of the season for the team’s decision. The Rams sat down with Kupp to discuss the possibility of a trade, which could potentially become official on March 12 when Kupp is due a $7.5 million roster bonus.
While Snead acknowledged that there may be a deadline, he emphasized that it would be a date to aim for in their negotiations.
