Rams Trade Talks Heated Over Matthew Stafford Contract Demands

Trade talks between the Los Angeles Rams and several teams for quarterback Matthew Stafford have intensified. The 37-year-old is seeking a contract worth at least $50 million per year, which would be a significant raise from his current deal.

Stafford’s camp may be holding out hope that a weak quarterback free agent market will yield someone willing to overpay. However, only nine NFL quarterbacks are currently making more than $50 per season, making it unlikely he’ll find a team willing to pay that much.

The Rams are reportedly looking for a first-round draft pick in exchange for Stafford, adding pressure to the negotiations. While ESPN insider Adam Schefter believes common ground will be found eventually, his conversations with other teams suggest his demands may not be met, and his asking price could come down.
