Barcelona moved closer to the Champions League semi-finals by thrashing Borussia Dortmund 4-0 at home. The Brazilian forward, Raphinha, achieved a record equaling Lionel Messi’s goal involvement in a single campaign with two goals and two assists, bringing his total to 19.
Raphinha scored twice in the first half, including a fortunate goal that gave Barcelona a deserved lead, before Robert Lewandowski doubled the score after the break. Lamine Yamal added a fourth goal as Barcelona ran riot in the early stages, forcing Dortmund’s goalkeeper Gregor Kobel into several smart saves.
Despite growing into the game, Dortmund struggled to create chances as Barcelona dominated possession and pressure told. The visitors were thwarted by blocks from Barcelona’s high defensive line and mistakes on the ball, allowing Lewandowski to seal a commanding 4-0 lead for his side.
Barcelona will now travel to Germany for the second leg of their quarter-final tie against Dortmund on April 15th.
