Rapper Young Scooter Dies at 39 in Atlanta Home Dispute

Rapper Young Scooter, born Kenneth Edward Bailey, died on his 39th birthday last Friday (March 28) after a dispute with a weapon at his home in Atlanta. According to Atlanta Police Lt. Andrew Smith, two men fled from the house, with one returning and the other jumping over fences as he escaped. The police located the man who jumped the fences, and upon finding him, he had apparently suffered an injury to his leg. The victim was taken to Grady Marcus Trauma Center where he died.

The Atlanta Police department denied reports that Young Scooter had been fatally shot by officers during the incident. Smith stated that the male’s injury occurred while fleeing from police, not at the hands of the officers on scene.

Young Scooter’s peers, including Playboi Carti and Quavo, took to social media to mourn his passing. Quavo posted a video of Scooter performing with the caption “ion understand” accompanied by broken-heart and prayer-hands emojis.

Born in South Carolina but raised in Atlanta since age 9, Young Scooter had established himself as a prominent figure in the rap scene. He gained local recognition with the song “Colombia” in 2012 before collaborating with notable artists such as Future, Juicy J, and Young Thug. His music career included chart-topping features on hits like “Guwop” and “Jet Lag”.
