Rare Meteorite Crash Captured on Doorbell Camera

A doorbell camera recorded the rare moment a meteorite fell outside a home in Canada, leaving a couple with an unforgettable experience. Joe Velaidum and his partner, Laura Kelly, were walking their dogs when they returned to find debris on their walkway in a star-shaped pattern. A video captured by the camera showed a fast-moving space rock hitting the ground with a loud crash and an explosive burst of gray dust.

The couple managed to recover some of the meteorite’s fragments from the scene and submitted them to the University of Alberta, where they were identified as part of the Charlottetown meteorite. This event is considered significant because it marks the first time a meteorite impact has been recorded both in video and sound.
