Rare Strawberry Moon to Appear Low in Night Sky

Cincinnati is set to witness a rare astronomical event on June 10 and 11. The strawberry moon, named after its traditional appearance around summer strawberry harvests, will be the lowest full moon visible in nearly 20 years.

The full moon is expected to rise at approximately 8:30 p.m. EST on June 10 and reach its peak at 3:44 a.m. on June 11. This rare lunar event coincides with a major standstill, where the moon appears low in the sky every 18-19 years.

Additionally, skywatchers can look forward to spotting Antares, a bright red star, visible near the full moon. For more information and viewing tips, visit EarthSky.com.
