Ravens Decline Tyler Linderbaum’s Fifth-Year Option, Plan to Retain Pro Bowl Center

The Baltimore Ravens have declined the fifth-year option on center Tyler Linderbaum, but intend to keep him after he becomes an unrestricted free agent in March. The decision not to pick up Linderbaum’s option is based on its high financial commitment, rather than his performance on the field.

Linderbaum, 25, has quickly become one of the NFL’s top centers and a key leader for Baltimore. His fifth-year option would have been $23.4 million in 2026, making him the highest-paid center in the league at that point. However, this number is significantly higher than what other top players at the position are earning.

The Ravens’ decision reflects Linderbaum’s growing importance to the team. In a statement, general manager Eric DeCosta said it is the Ravens’ intention for Linderbaum to remain with the team long-term. However, Linderbaum has stated he is not yet focused on contract negotiations, and instead wants to give his full effort to the team.

The decision to decline Linderbaum’s option allows the Ravens to manage their salary cap more effectively. Meanwhile, safety Kyle Hamilton will retain his fifth-year option worth $18.6 million in 2026. The Ravens have also expressed interest in working towards a multi-year contract extension for Hamilton.

Linderbaum and Hamilton were both selected by the Ravens in the first round of the 2022 draft. Linderbaum was chosen with the No. 25 pick, while Hamilton came in at No. 14.
