Ravens Wide Receiver Diontae Johnson Released From Team
The Baltimore Ravens have waived wide receiver Diontae Johnson, ending his brief but eventful stint with the team. The move comes after a tumultuous final game against the Eagles on December 1, when Johnson refused to play and was subsequently suspended for conduct detrimental to the team.
Johnson played just 39 snaps in four games with the Ravens before being excused from team activities. Despite being released, he will remain on the waiver wire until Monday at 4 p.m. ET, at which point he will become a free agent if he clears.
Prior to joining the Ravens, Johnson had a successful seven-game stint with the Panthers, where he made 30 catches for 357 yards and three touchdowns. The wide receiver spent his first five seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers, catching 391 passes for 4,363 yards and 25 touchdowns.
The Ravens also announced that they will be elevating cornerback Desmond King and wide receiver Anthony Miller from their practice squad to play in Saturday’s game.
