Ravens Update: Lamar Jackson, Patrick Ricard Return; Buchanan Proves Himself

Ravens Quarterback Lamar Jackson was cleared to play after suffering a minor injury during practice on Wednesday. Head Coach John Harbaugh confirmed that X-rays revealed no damage to Jackson’s foot, and he is expected to be fine.

Fullback Patrick Ricard, who has been absent from practice for several days due to a soft-tissue issue, is also expected to return next week, according to coach Harbaugh.

Meanwhile, rookie linebacker Teddye Buchanan is impressing coaches with his ability to learn both “Mike” and “Will” linebacker spots. Inside Linebackers Coach Tyler Santucci praised Buchanan’s maturity and understanding of the game, noting that he is excelling in learning both positions.

Buchanan, who played weakside linebacker at U.C. Davis before switching to “Mike” at Cal, has been enjoying the process of learning both positions. He attributes his growth to being forced to understand the defense on a deep level and knowing how each position fits into different scenarios.

Wide receiver Devontez Walker continues to build confidence in camp, showcasing his all-around abilities as a player who can impact the game in various ways. Coach Santucci notes that Walker has shown improvement in winning underneath routes, and while it remains to be seen if he’ll see significant playing time, Walker feels confident after a productive preseason.

In other news, Defensive Coordinator Zach Orr is serving as a sounding board for Inside Linebackers Coach Tyler Santucci this summer. Orr’s perspective from his own coaching experience has been invaluable, while Pro Bowler Roquan Smith is providing clarity on the defense and ensuring that communication remains clear within the room.
