Razzie Awards Honor ‘Madame Web’ and Hollywood Flops

This Sunday, celebrities will attend the Oscars, hoping to win recognition for their best work. However, there’s another event that takes place around the same time: the Razzies, which honors the worst movies and acting performances of the year.

The top winner at this year’s Razzies is “Madame Web,” starring Dakota Johnson, with three awards for worst movie, worst screenplay, and worst actress. USA TODAY critic Brian Truitt predicted a similar outcome just over a year ago, stating that the Spider-Man spinoff was plagued by poor dialogue, weak character development, and lackluster villains.

Other notable Razzie winners include comedian Jerry Seinfeld’s “Unfrosted,” which earned awards for worst lead actor and worst supporting actress; Jon Voight, who received his first Razzie for worst supporting actor after four 2024 performances; and director Francis Ford Coppola, who won the award for worst director for his failed movie “Megalopolis.”

Coppola accepted his Razzie with a defiant message, saying he’s proud to have received recognition for taking risks in filmmaking. The annual Razzies also present the Redeemer award, which goes to an artist who has rebounded from past failures and achieved success.
