Bayern Munich’s title hopes took a hit as RB Leipzig snatched a late point in a thrilling 3-3 draw against the Bundesliga leaders on Saturday. The victory, sealed by Yussuf Poulsen’s stoppage-time equalizer, delays Harry Kane’s capture of a first career trophy.
The game was a rollercoaster ride, with Bayern coming from two goals down to level and take an 83rd-minute lead before Poulsen’s dramatic intervention. Bayern Munich now have 76 points, nine ahead of champions Leverkusen, but will secure their 34th league crown should Leverkusen fail to win.
The draw keeps RB Leipzig in the running for a top-four finish and a spot in next season’s Champions League. The result also dashes Bayern’s hopes of clinching the title with two games left to play.
Kane was suspended and watching from the stands, but Leipzig took advantage of his absence to pile on early pressure. Benjamin Sesko scored the opener just 11 minutes into the game before Lukas Klostermann doubled the lead six minutes before halftime.
Bayern turned things around after the break, however, with Eric Dier heading in Michael Olise’s corner and Olise rifling in the equalizer a minute later. Leroy SanĂ© gave Bayern the lead seven minutes from time before Poulsen spoiled the party with his late goal.
