Re-infection with COVID-19 Doubles Long-COVID Risk in Young People

A new study published on medRxiv suggests that re-infected individuals are more likely to develop long-term complications from COVID-19, including myocarditis, changes in taste and smell, and fatigue. The research involved 465,717 patients under the age of 20 who contracted COVID-19 between January 2022 and October 2023. Compared to first-time infections, second-time infections doubled the risk of developing long-COVID, with some conditions experiencing a 50% or greater increase in severity.
