Prosecutors are seeking additional financial records from “Real Housewives of Potomac” star Wendy Osefo and her husband, Eddie Osefo, in connection with a criminal fraud case. The couple was indicted last month for allegedly staging a burglary at their home to claim losses on their insurance policies.
Defense attorneys argue that the request for new banking records is part of a “fishing expedition.” However, prosecutors claim that Wendy Osefo has used multiple aliases and has made excessive purchases with her credit cards.
Eddie Osefo’s attorney says the requests are overly broad and timed poorly. The couple was charged with seven counts of insurance fraud, eight counts of conspiracy insurance fraud, and one count of making a false statement to a police officer.
