Reality TV couple Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt are suing Los Angeles for losing their Pacific Palisades home, damaged in recent wildfires. The couple filed a lawsuit along with over 20 others affected by the fires, claiming that insufficient water from the city’s reservoir led to firefighters being unable to fight the wildfire effectively.
Thefires, ignited by strong winds during one of California’s driest years, have already claimed 28 lives and destroyed over 12,000 structures. The suit cites problems with water supply, including tank hydrants running dry within 12 hours due to the city’s aging infrastructure. Without reliable water, firefighters relied on outdated systems designed for smaller fires, exacerbating the disaster.
Los Angeles and its water utility have not yet responded to requests for comment. Repairs to the reservoir, which supplies the neighborhood, are expected to be completed in late 2025. The plaintiffs argue that the city’s water system contributed to the wildfire’s success, using “inverse condemnation” principles to seek compensation for their losses.
