Reba McEntire’s son Shelby Blackstock has paid a heartfelt tribute to his late brother Brandon Blackstock, who passed away at the age of 48 after a three-year battle with cancer. Shelby shared an emotional message on Instagram, saying that words cannot capture the magnitude of their family’s loss.
“Yesterday, we lost a brother, a father, a grandfather, and a son,” Shelby wrote. “Brandon was an irreplaceable part of our family – funny, bright, and full of life. He taught me so much and left behind cherished memories that I’ll hold onto forever.”
Shelby expressed his gratitude for the time he had with Brandon, saying that although they will never get to share more moments together, he knows his brother’s presence will still be felt in everyday life.
“I’ll feel your presence every hunt, every flight, and in the everyday moments of life,” Shelby said. “And although it may annoy you, I’ll have to watch me do it all just a little better, a little smoother, and—let’s be honest—looking far more handsome than you ever could.”
Reba McEntire has not publicly commented on her late stepson Brandon Blackstock, but previously described him as one of her own children.
