Record £300k for Titanic Survivor’s Letter

A survivor of the Titanic disaster has sold his personal account of the tragedy at a record-breaking price. Col Archibald Gracie, a first-class passenger, wrote about his experience in “The Truth About the Titanic”. The letter card, dated 10 April 1912, is one of the rarest items ever seen and has been sold for £300,000.

Gracie’s account is considered one of the most detailed accounts of the events on that fateful night. The letter describes his time on board, including a memorable dinner party where he chaperoned several women, including three sisters who survived. He also recounts helping women and children into lifeboats before the ship sank.

The item has never been offered for sale before and is considered a museum-grade piece due to its rarity and authenticity. The auctioneer described it as “one of the highest-profile survivors” with excellent content, making it a highly valuable find.
