Record $6.6 Trillion in Stock Trading by Individual Investors

Investors have made significant purchases of stocks this year, with retail investors cumulatively buying around $3.4 trillion worth of equities over the first half of 2025. Despite ongoing concerns such as tariffs and Middle East tensions, their buying spree remains strong.

According to data from Nasdaq, individual investors sold about $3.2 trillion worth of stocks during this period. This resulted in a total of $6.6 trillion worth of trading, with buyers outpacing sellers by $200 billion.

The purchasing power of retail investors has remained robust despite economic uncertainty and market volatility. Their strong buying habits have been sustained even as tensions escalated between nations due to conflicts in the Middle East.
