Record-Breaking 41,482 Medical School Seniors Matched for Residency

The National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) has matched over 41,000 medical school seniors and graduates to U.S. residency positions, a new record. The program filled 93.5% of available training slots, with 53,373 applicants competing for 44,344 spots. This marks the first time both numbers have broken records. The NRMP also announced that active medical residents grew by 4% in 2024-2025, making it the seventh consecutive year of growth.
