A new study suggests eating red meat could actually help protect against dying from cancer, contradicting widespread medical opinion. Researchers analyzed data from nearly 16,000 adults and found that those who consumed more animal protein had a five percent lower risk of dying from cancer. The study also did not find any link between plant protein consumption and reduced cancer deaths. Instead, old age, sedentary lifestyle, and smoking were identified as major risks to human health. The findings contradict previous reports that linked high animal protein intake to increased mortality risk.
