Red Sox Sign Garrett Crochet to $170M Deal

The Boston Red Sox have agreed to a six-year, $170 million contract extension with left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet. The deal will start in 2026 and include an opt-out after 2030. This is the largest deal for a pitcher with four-plus years of service.

Crochet, 25, was acquired by the Red Sox via trade from the Chicago White Sox in December. He made his season debut on Opening Day against the Texas Rangers, allowing two earned runs in six innings pitched. The young pitcher has already shown promise, posting a 3.58 ERA and 1.068 WHIP in 32 starts last season.

The deal marked a significant move by the Red Sox to bolster their rotation, with the team parting with four prospects, including catcher Kyle Teel and outfielder Braden Montgomery. The White Sox remain out of contention, prioritizing young talent over playoff aspirations.
