Rep Calls for Probe into Greene’s Stocks Amid Trump’s Global Tariffs

US Representative Gregorio Casar has called for an investigation into Marjorie Taylor Greene’s stock purchases during the recent market dip following President Donald Trump’s announcement of global tariffs. The Democratic representative stated that an investigation is needed to determine if any K Street lobbyists or big firms were tipped off by Trump’s actions.

Greene purchased several stocks, including Lululemon and Apple Inc, in the days leading up to a 90-day pause on the tariffs, which resulted in markets soaring. However, her purchases were made after Trump announced sweeping global tariffs on April 2, causing markets to plummet.

Lawmakers are allowed to buy and sell stocks but must publicly disclose trades valued over $1,000 within 45 days. Greene is the only member of Congress to disclose trades made after Trump’s “Liberation Day” announcement.

A similar investigation was announced by Senator Adam Schiff, who claimed that a culture of corruption has infected the Republican party. President Trump responded to the news by saying it’s a great time to buy stocks, with his initials and the stock market ticker for his company DJT.
