Rep Calls for Revoke of SpaceX CEO’s Access to NASA Headquarters

Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY) has urged the acting head of NASA to revoke Elon Musk’s access to the space agency’s headquarters due to a potential conflict of interest. As SpaceX’s largest private contractor, receiving $2.3 billion from NASA in 2023, Musk’s access could compromise the integrity of the agency.

Meng visited NASA personally to raise concerns about Musk’s access and wrote a letter to acting Administrator Janet Petro citing this extreme conflict of interest. The concern comes as Musk leads the Department of Government Efficiency’s efforts to overhaul government agencies and reduce federal spending.

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) has also pressed for information on Musk’s compliance with ethics requirements, noting that as a “special government employee,” Musk is subject to federal criminal conflict of interest statutes. President Trump stated he will closely monitor Musk’s work and address any conflicts or lack of transparency.
