Replit Partners with Microsoft for Azure Marketplace Integration

Replit, a coding platform, has announced a strategic partnership with Microsoft, making its tech available through the Azure Marketplace. This deal will enable Microsoft shops to purchase Replit subscriptions directly from the marketplace. The partnership also integrates Replit’s technology with Microsoft cloud services like containers, virtual machines, and Neon Serverless Postgres.

While Replit doesn’t compete directly with Microsoft’s popular Copilot, which is used by programmers, it offers a different user base and use cases. Replit is geared towards both programmers and non-programmer business managers who want to build custom apps using natural language prompts. The platform supports various programming languages and allows users to customize features.

The partnership aims to position Replit as a prototyping/designing tool, similar to Figma, but with a focus on non-programmers building their own apps. Replit’s CEO Amjad Masad stated that the partnership will enable all employees across different functions to develop apps, regardless of coding experience.

Replit has experienced significant growth, reaching $100 million in annual recurring revenue in just six months, and recently raised $97.4 million at a post-money valuation of $1.1 billion. The startup claims over 500,000 business users on its platform. This partnership marks a major milestone for Replit, as it competes with other fast-growing startups like Lovable and Bolt.

While some might see this deal as taking an “L” from Google Cloud, which has profiled the partnership, Replit confirmed that the deal is non-exclusive, meaning the startup will continue to support Microsoft shops while growing its presence. This move could potentially attract other popular vibe coders to similar Microsoft deals.
