Republicans Target Electric Vehicles with New Policy Bill

A Republican-led policy bill passed by the House of Representatives would significantly impact the growth of the electric vehicle industry in the US. The measure would repeal many subsidies that have driven the development of battery technology and encourage the adoption of electric cars.

The bill would eliminate tax credits for individuals and businesses purchasing electric vehicles, reduce incentives for automakers to manufacture them domestically, and slash funding for charging station infrastructure. Additionally, it would impose an annual fee on owners of electric cars and trucks.

If signed into law by President Trump, this policy change could drastically slow the sales and production of battery-powered vehicles in the US, hindering the global effort to combat climate change.
