Resident Evil Requiem Revealed as Mainline Series’ Ninth Game

Capcom has officially announced the next installment in the mainline Resident Evil series, titled Resident Evil Requiem. The game is set to release on February 27, 2026, across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Revealed during Summer Game Fest 2025, Resident Evil Requiem marks a “bold shift” for the franchise in terms of tone and gameplay. The game promises high-stakes cinematic action alongside survival horror elements. A new playable character, FBI technical analyst Grace Ashcroft, is also introduced, investigating strange deaths tied to her mother’s murder.

A trailer showcased the game’s post-apocalyptic world, featuring a destroyed Raccoon City and hints at open-world design. While no information has been confirmed on other playable characters or established Resident Evil characters like Leon S. Kennedy, Capcom emphasizes technological advancements and immersive gameplay.

The official description reads: “Requiem for the dead. Nightmare for the living.” Resident Evil Requiem is set to become a new era of survival horror, promising an experience that will leave players chilled to their core.
