Respiratory Illnesses on the Rise in Blue Ridge District

Emergency visits for respiratory illnesses are increasing in the Blue Ridge District of Virginia, according to data from the state’s health department. Over the past week, there were 26 emergency visits due to diagnosed flu and 17 cases of RSV (respiratory syncytial virus). This trend follows a broader pattern of rising emergency visits across the state.

Notably, Covid-19-related emergency visits have declined significantly since late summer and early fall. The recent surge in respiratory illnesses highlights the importance of vaccination, good hygiene practices, and seeking medical attention promptly if symptoms arise.
