I spent my first year after college teaching middle school English in South Mississippi, only to find it unfulfilling due to lack of funding and stifling quiet time during lunch. However, I soon found a new passion in writing for the Jackson Free Press under Nate Schumann’s guidance.
After moving back to Jackson, I took on various non-traditional roles, including phone interviews during the pandemic and eventually became an enrollment verification specialist at my alma mater. Promoted, I began teaching college composition courses, reducing my articles, but still staying connected to MFP through editing youth media projects and later contract work.
As I transitioned into my new role as Calendar Editor, I want to hear from Mississippians about the events and experiences they love. I’m excited to highlight the state’s many attractions and share their stories with our readers. Email me at [email protected] to be featured in our calendar section.
