RGB Mini-LED TVs: Brighter Colors and Higher Contrast

A new display technology is taking the world of TVs by storm: RGB Mini-LED. This innovative tech offers brighter pictures, improved contrast, and enhanced color volume, making it a game-changer for home entertainment.

RGB Mini-LEDs are an upgrade to traditional Mini-LED displays, with an added twist: independently controlled red-, green-, and blue-colored LEDs. This allows for more vibrant colors and better color accuracy. Brands like Samsung, Hisense, and Sony are already using this technology in their TVs, with some models offering up to 95% coverage of the BT.2020 color gamut.

Samsung’s Micro RGB TV is currently available in a massive 115-inch size, priced at $29,999. It boasts a native 144Hz refresh rate, built-in smart features, and Samsung’s Vision AI software suite. Hisense’s 116UX model, also launched with the same price tag, offers a slightly larger screen size of 116 inches.

Sony’s take on RGB Mini-LED is still under development, but it’s expected to debut in 2026. The company claims its display covers 90% of BT.2020 and can reach brightness levels of up to 4,000 nits.

While these TVs are currently out of reach for most consumers due to their high price tag, manufacturers are working to scale down the technology to smaller sizes. As a result, we can expect to see more affordable options in the future, potentially even as small as 65-inch models. For now, RGB Mini-LED TVs represent a bridge between current and future TV technologies.
