Nile Gardiner, director of the Margaret Thatcher Center for Freedom and a fellow at the Heritage Foundation, has vowed to urge Donald Trump to deport Prince Harry if he lied on his U.S. immigration application forms. The statement comes after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle launched a scathing attack on Meta for abandoning its fact-checking program.
Gardiner said that Prince Harry’s involvement in the issue would increase animosity towards those who believe Harry should be deported, and that his immigration records should be published. He criticized the couple for intervening in a “hot-button political topic” as “highly inappropriate.”
The Heritage Foundation has been accused of spending millions to block voting rights and taking anti-LGBTQ positions. However, Gardiner believes that Prince Harry’s immigration status is a matter of transparency and accountability.
Gardiner said that President-elect Donald Trump already expressed displeasure at Harry’s treatment of the queen and the royal family, giving him the authority to order the release of his immigration records. He plans to personally meet with Trump again to push for their release.
