Ripple CEO Opens Up on $150M SEC Fight and XRP Price Surge

Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse recently discussed the company’s ongoing legal battle with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in an interview on 60 Minutes. Garlinghouse criticized the SEC’s approach, stating that it was a key reason why Ripple formed the industry super PAC FairShake to fight back against what he described as a “war on crypto.”

The SEC and Ripple are locked in a dispute over XRP, which the company argues should not be treated like a stock. Garlinghouse revealed that Ripple has spent over $150 million fighting the SEC’s stance on XRP.

Ripple is seeking clear regulations from Congress to address the unique nature of digital assets. The CEO explained that he believes it’s reasonable for him and his team to have a simple understanding of what constitutes a security, but they need clear rules to operate under.

The XRP price has surged in recent days, approaching $2.60, with investors optimistic about the future of the crypto industry under a potential Trump presidency.
