A team of young NBA stars from the G League faced off against a group of seasoned players in the semifinals, but it was the G Leaguers who pulled off the upset. Led by Trail Blazers G Leaguer Bryce McGowens’ clutch three-pointer, Team G League edged out Mitch Richmond’s Team M 40-39 and advanced to the final.
The semifinal matchup saw two teams of young NBA players face off in a heated battle. Meanwhile, Chris Mullins’ team of NBA players, including second-year Jazz guard Keyonte George, dominated their opponents with a 17-2 run in the third quarter. The win propelled Team C into the final against LeBron James, Stephen Curry, and Kevin Durant.
George led his team to victory, scoring a game-high 12 points in the semifinals before hitting the dagger three-pointer in the final that sealed the deal for Team C. Rookie Stephon Castle was named the Rising Stars MVP after leading his team with 12 points in the final.
The thrilling matchup has set up an intriguing All-Star tournament, with Team C facing off against LeBron’s Shaq’s OGs on Sunday. Damian Lillard and James Harden are among the stars featured on Team Shaq, which also includes Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, and Kyrie Irving.
Mullins’ team of NBA players will be led by Candace Parker in the final, with a mix of veteran All-Stars and young talent facing off against each other. The competition promises to be fierce as teams vie for the top spot in the Rising Stars tournament.
