Rivian has finally released its first special editions of the R1T and R1S electric trucks. The California Dune Edition is inspired by Californian sand dunes, featuring a new beige color called California Dune that evokes “the subtle natural undertones of the desert dunes with calming, earthy tones.”
The California Dune Edition comes with unique styling cues, including 20-inch wheels designed reminiscent of rally cars. The trucks also feature roof crossbars and Maxtrax recovery boards for added durability. In terms of performance, the California Dune Editions are based on the mid-range Tri-Motor versions of the R1T and R1S, offering 850 horsepower, a 2.9-second 0-to-60-mph time, and a 329-mile range.
The interior design is more functional than luxurious, with an Adventure interior from lower-end Dual-Motor models instead of the higher-end Ascend interior. However, the California Dune Editions still feature unique interior color schemes and materials, such as Sandstone with Black Mountain vegan leathers.
Rivian will display the California Dune Editions at SXSW in Austin, Texas, and select Rivian showrooms across the country. The California Dune Editions are available to order now, starting at $99,900 for the R1T and $105,900 for the R1S.
