Robert Kirkman Teases Grand Theft Auto 6 as Fighting Game Due to High Budget

Robert Kirkman, the creator of Invincible, has hinted that the upcoming fighting game based on his series could be a more affordable alternative to the highly anticipated open-world game Grand Theft Auto 6. In an interview with GamesRadar+, Kirkman mentioned that open-world games are expensive and likened the budget for GTA 6 to a “three Trey Parker and Matt Stone deals.”

Speculation has placed the budget for GTA 6 in the range of $1 billion to $2 billion, although these rumors have no apparent source. Despite the high expectations surrounding GTA 6, Kirkman believes that fighting games are a great way to showcase the Invincible universe and its characters.

Kirkman’s love for fighting games dates back to his childhood, when he played Street Fighter 2 in arcades and Mortal Kombat on the Genesis. He praises fighting games as a great genre for showcasing large numbers of characters, which is not possible in open-world games where you play as one character and encounter others.

The Invincible fighting game will be developed by Rockstar Games, which has already confirmed that GTA 7 will see significant changes made using AI, replacing the bulk of the work. This move suggests that fighting games may become a more viable option for series like Invincible in the future.

Kirkman’s comments on GTA 6 and its budget are likely to spark further speculation among fans and industry insiders alike. With the Invincible fighting game set to be released soon, gamers will have to wait and see how this project unfolds.
