Robinhood, a popular online trading platform, has suspended trading of event contracts related to this weekend’s Pro Football Championship. The company received a request from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to halt the promotion, which was launched just a day earlier. Initially available to about 1% of customers, the feature allowed users to bet on the outcome of the game. Despite expressing disappointment with the CFTC’s decision, Robinhood plans to continue working with regulators and eventually roll out a more comprehensive event contracts platform later this year.
