Rock Musician John Sykes Dies After Cancer Battle

Rock musician John Sykes, known for his work with Thin Lizzy and Whitesnake, has passed away at 65 after a long battle with cancer. The British guitarist died on an unspecified date after a hard-fought fight against the disease.

Sykes began his career in 1980 as the lead guitarist of The Tigers of Pan Tang before joining Thin Lizzy in 1982. He played with the band throughout its farewell period and released two final albums, “Thunder and Lightning” and “Life”. Sykes also joined Whitesnake in 1984, co-writing their self-titled album that included hit songs like “Still of the Night” and “Is this Love”, which sold over 10 million copies worldwide.

After leaving Whitesnake, Sykes formed Blue Murder with bassist Tony Franklin and drummer Carmine Appice. The band released its debut album in 1989, followed by a solo career.

Sykes was married to Jennifer Brooks from 1989 until his death, having three sons: James, John Jr., and Sean. Fellow rockers took to social media to pay tribute to Sykes, including Whitesnake’s David Coverdale, who shared a slideshow of photos featuring the two musicians in the 80s.

Sykes’ passing has left a profound impact on the music world, with fans mourning the loss of a talented musician and charismatic individual. Despite his death, his memory will live on through his music and legacy.
