Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated next installment, Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), has been in development for at least eight years, according to Take-Two’s financial report. The company started working on the game “in earnest” in 2020, following the success of Red Dead Redemption 2.
The estimated development cost for GTA 6 is over $1 billion, making it the most expensive video game of all time. However, Take-Two believes the investment is worth it due to unprecedented consumer anticipation for the game. The company’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, stated that the ambition and complexity of GTA 6 are greater than any previous Rockstar title.
The release of Trailer 2 has sparked speculation about what to expect from the game. Some fans believe Liberty City may appear in GTA 6 at launch or as post-launch DLC. IGN will continue to provide updates on GTA 6, including new screenshots and expert analysis.
