Stuntman Ronnie Rondell Jr.’s career was a whirlwind of thrills and spills. With roles in Westerns like How the West Was Won and superhero movies like Batman & Robin, he had it all. However, one moment stood out in his life: being part of Pink Floyd’s 1975 album cover “Wish You Were Here”.
The iconic image captures Rondell with a singed moustache, smiling as he shakes hands with another man on the Warner Bros studio backlot. The picture has become an integral part of the band’s mythology and is arguably as well-known as their music.
Sadly, Rondell passed away at the age of 88, leaving behind a legacy in one of the most recognizable album covers in rock history. As the story of Pink Floyd continues, we’ll explore the making of five of their most celebrated LPs in a future article.
