Rookie Makes Big Impact in Celtics’ Win

Boston Celtics rookie Baylor Scheierman scored a career-high 20 points in a gritty performance against the Brooklyn Nets. The 24-year-old out of Creighton played key roles in Boston’s win, including defensive effort and offensive rebounding. Coach Joe Mazzulla praised Scheierman for his toughness, patience, and consistency, saying he has high-level basketball IQ.

Scheierman saw increased action with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown resting due to injuries. He made several clutch plays, including a buzzer-beating 3-pointer in the third quarter that gave Boston a 71-70 lead. Scheierman’s performance was a top three moment for him, and he expressed excitement about playing in such an environment.

Mazzulla believes Scheierman has high potential, citing his toughness, basketball IQ, and ability to take advantage of small moments on the court. With Tatum and Brown returning, Scheierman will continue to be a key reserve and provide energy to the team as they chase their second consecutive title and 19th championship.
