Rory McIlroy Ejected as Ryder Cup Fans Cross Line

Ryder Cup fans crossed the line during Saturday’s matches at Bethpage Black, prompting extra security measures. Spectators were ejected for bad behavior, and players like Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry faced heckling and abuse from American fans.

European captain Luke Donald accused American fans of “crossing the line” after a tense second day at the Ryder Cup. The PGA of America added security to the Saturday fourballs matches due to fan behavior. McIlroy responded to one heckler by telling them to “shut up,” before securing a 3&2 win over Harris English and Collin Morikawa.

McIlry explained that while he doesn’t mind fans having a go at him, he wants respect during his shots. Donald said the loud and raucous crowd was intimidating and added that personal insults and disruptions near the players’ routines were unacceptable.

Heckling continued throughout the afternoon session, with McIlroy and Lowry facing boos and shouts. Fans warned as police presence stepped up. The PGA of America will continue to monitor fan behavior and take action when necessary.

The Ryder Cup is now in a record-breaking 11.5-4.5 lead for Europe, leaving them 2.5 points away from retaining the trophy and three points from a first away win since the 2012 Miracle at Medinah.
