Rotel’s latest addition to its integrated amplifier series is the DX-5, a compact powerhouse that promises to deliver impressive sound quality despite its small size. The DX-5 boasts a Class A/B amplifier output, utilizing “high-current transistors” that can produce 25wpc into 8 Ohms or 33wpc into 4 Ohms.
The amplifier features four hardwired digital inputs – USB-B, TOSLINK, HDMI ARC, and coaxial – as well as an aptXHD/AAC Bluetooth aerial for convenient streaming. All digital sources are connected to an internal DAC circuit built around the ESS Labs ES9039Q2M chip, with users also able to connect a BYO DAC for added flexibility.
Notable features include a single subwoofer output without bass management and a non-touch TFT front panel colour screen. The DX-5’s weight is 4.1kg, making it easy to handle, while its price of $1499 or £1399 (silver or black) makes it an attractive option for those looking to upgrade their home audio setup.
With its compact design and impressive feature list, the Rotel DX-5 is sure to be a popular choice among audiophiles.
