The British royal family gathered in London to celebrate King Charles III’s official birthday, Trooping the Colour, today. The monarch joined Queen Camilla in a carriage procession down the Mall from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade, marking a change from his previous tradition of riding.
King Charles III wore the uniform of the Coldstream Guards, while Queen Camilla donned a favorite white and silver ensemble with Philip Treacy hat. Her jewelry included tried-and-true pieces such as diamond earrings and a pearl choker necklace.
The King’s son and siblings rode on horseback during the parade, wearing black armbands in remembrance of victims of last Thursday’s Air India crash. The royal family also observed a moment of silence before the Last Post.
Princess Catherine wore a blue and white ensemble with a coordinating hat, while Princess Charlotte added a special touch with a petite diamond horseshoe brooch on her dress. This brooch was a gift from Queen Elizabeth II to her great-granddaughter.
Other members of the royal family also attended the ceremony, including the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and Birgitte. The King’s cousin, the Duke of Kent, also made an appearance on the palace balcony during the flypast.
