Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has vowed to remain in his role despite a tough season that saw the team suffer their 20th defeat. In an interview with TNT Sports, Amorim expressed confidence in his abilities and his knowledge of the club. He acknowledged that the fans’ patience would be short next season but assured that he would not quit.
Amorim stated, “I’m confident I am still the guy, more than [at] the beginning of the job.” He also emphasized that he knows what the team needs and has the tools to do his job. When asked if he was worried about being replaced by the owners, Amorim replied, “I am not [worried] about that.”
The team’s poor season is a stark contrast to their previous successes under Sir Alex Ferguson. Tottenham Hotspur beat Manchester United 1-0 in the final of the UEFA Europa League, with Brennan Johnson scoring the only goal.
Spurs’ captain Son Heung-Min expressed his happiness and pride after winning the trophy, saying, “I’m very proud to be Korean and to win the trophy.” Amorim also acknowledged that Spurs were the better team in the game but struggled to score goals.
Despite a disappointing defeat, Amorim remains committed to his role and is focused on developing the club. He stated, “The next step is to develop the club, but tonight it is to deal with the pain, and then we will have time to assess the season.”
