RuneScape: Dragonwilds Launches in 2025 – Survival Game Set in Old-School MMO World

Jagex, the developer of the long-lived massively multiplayer game RuneScape, has announced a new spinoff: RuneScape: Dragonwilds. The game is an open-world survival and crafting experience set in the world of old-school RuneScape. Players will build, craft, and harness magic to survive on the continent of Ashenfall, where dragons have awoken and must be defeated by the ultimate goal.

The game features a focus on magic, with players able to tap into Anima power to aid their survival. It can be played solo or with up to three friends, offering a unique blend of adventure and light RPG elements. Dragonwilds is set in Unreal Engine 5 and boasts modern visuals for a traditional fantasy setting.

RuneScape has had an unlikely success story since its inception as a browser game. The latest iteration, Old School RuneScape, still maintains a strong fanbase, and the developer has also launched its own spiritual successor, Brighter Shores. With Dragonwilds’ early access launch on Steam in spring 2025, fans of the series will have another exciting addition to look forward to.

Dragonwilds is an open-world survival game that builds upon the foundations of RuneScape’s existing lore, with a unique twist on magic and exploration. As players progress through the game, they’ll face challenges and must work together with friends to overcome obstacles and defeat the dragons’ queen.
