Rupert Murdoch’s Media Empire Settled by Court Decision

Nevada court rules in favor of James, Elisabeth and Prudence Murdoch over their father’s attempts to strip them of control.

Media mogul Rupert Murdoch attempted to change the voting power of his adult children, but a 96-page opinion has deemed his actions “in bad faith”. The decision aims to preserve equal voting power among all four adult children over Murdoch’s media empire.

The court decision follows a campaign by Murdoch and his oldest son Lachlan to gain complete control, citing “Project Harmony” as the goal. However, James, Elisabeth and Prudence expressed their hope for moving forward in strengthening family relationships.

Fox News parent company News Corp is seen as having a right-wing leaning under Murdoch’s leadership, with its revenue reaching nearly $14 billion in 2024.

Despite this setback, media scholar Robert Thompson suggests that the Murdochs may maintain their successful business model, prioritizing profits over potential changes.
