Russell Brand Charged with Rape Allegations

Comedian and actor Russell Brand faces charges of rape, indecent assault, and sexual assault by London’s Metropolitan Police. The allegations relate to four women and incidents between 1999 and 2005.

Brand, 50, has denied the claims. Detectives began investigating in September after receiving reports from Channel 4’s Dispatches and the Sunday Times. The Met’s investigation is ongoing, with detectives urging anyone affected or with information to come forward.

In a recent social media post, Brand addressed the allegations, stating he was “a fool” during his youth but never engaged in non-consensual activity. The accusations surfaced after a 2023 exposé by Channel 4 and the Sunday Times, which included a documentary and article. Five women shared their stories of serious sexual allegations.

Brand’s live tour was postponed, and his publishing deal was suspended following the report. The BBC also removed programs featuring Brand from digital services due to the content “falling below public expectations.” Thames Valley Police launched separate investigations alongside the Met.
