Russia Downs Dozens of Drones in Ukraine Overnight

Russia’s air defense systems destroyed or intercepted 71 Ukrainian drones over six Russian regions overnight, according to the Defense Ministry. Most of the drones were downed in the Kursk region, with others in Oryol, Ryazan, Bryansk, Vladimir, and Tula.

The town of Shuya, which is around 1,150 km from the Ukrainian border, was attacked for the second consecutive night by Ukrainian drones. However, Russian authorities reported no casualties or damage.

The base at Shuya hosts a Russian missile brigade that Ukraine has blamed for a strike on the city of Sumy that killed at least 35 people. Videos circulated online appeared to show the base being struck, but Reuters could not verify the footage.

In the Zaporizhzhia region, where Russia controls the largest nuclear plant in Europe, a Ukrainian drone was downed 300 meters from the facility.
