Russia Enters Central Dnipropetrovsk Region in Ongoing Fighting

Ukraine has admitted that Russian forces have entered the central Dnipropetrovsk region for the first time, with fighting ongoing. The area, previously spared from intense conflict, has seen significant advances by Russian troops.

Moscow claimed its forces had advanced into the region in July and has since stated it has captured some settlements. However, Ukraine’s General Staff disputes this, saying Moscow has not fully captured key villages like Zaporizke and Novogeorgiivka.

Battlefield monitor DeepState, which is closely tied to Ukraine’s military, reports that Russia has “occupied” these villages and is now consolidating its positions in preparation for a further advance. The Russian army’s gains come as momentum towards a possible peace deal stalls.

The concession from Ukraine marks a significant development in the conflict, which has seen costly battles in eastern and southern Ukraine. Dnipropetrovsk is not one of the five Ukrainian regions Moscow claims as its own territory.
