Russia Launches Air Attacks on Ukraine, Claims False Attacks

Russia launched air attacks on Ukraine, causing damage to homes and infrastructure, as the war enters its 1,137th day. On Sunday, April 6, three Ukrainian women were wounded in a Russian air attack on the southern region of Mykolaiv, while multiple fires broke out.

Russia also targeted Kyiv’s air defenses overnight, with the city’s forces trying to repel the attacks. The Ukrainian Air Force shot down 51 of 92 drones launched by Russia on Saturday night. However, Russia’s Ministry of Defence accused Ukraine of increasing its attacks on Russian energy infrastructure despite a US-brokered moratorium.

In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed disappointment in the US Embassy’s “weak reaction” to a recent missile strike that killed 18 people, including nine children. He called for stronger condemnation from the US.

Zelenskyy also hailed progress in talks with British and French military chiefs on deploying a multinational peacekeeping force to Ukraine.
